Water heater

Every place that needs hot water needs a way to heat it. Until recently, there was only one way to do that – by heating and storing water until ready for use. While still the least expensive system to install, there are now compelling alternatives to the traditional heater.

“Tankless” heaters are fast becoming a popular alternative. They do not store hot water, but heat it only as needed and deliver it instantly. Because the cost of storing heated water is a significant part of the monthly power bills of both homes and many commercial facilities, tankless water heaters can provide cost savings sufficient to pay for themselves in a few years. But tankless models are not just a greener alternative because they use less power; they also tend to reduce water demand. When there is no need to run the tap for a few minutes to get hot water, that reduced water usage is another way to save money and natural resources.

Some users even opt for a hybrid system, keeping a smaller traditional heater to provide large volumes of heated water instantly while a tankless heater prepares more water for use as the traditional heater loses heat.
